Custom Objects Are Now in the Navigation

What is it?

To make it easier to find the data you need, we’ve added custom objects to the global navigation.

Sneaky bonus: We're also now letting users set custom object index pages as their default homepage.

Why does it matter?

As an Enterprise customer, custom objects can be as important—if not more important—to your HubSpot experience as standard objects. You should be able to access your objects as easily as contacts, companies, deals, and tickets, which are all right there in the global navigation (i.e., the top nav bar).

Without that visibility, you might end up struggling to find the objects you most need to see, which can lead to lost productivity and unnecessary corrective steps—like creating help documentation to help you and your team find custom objects.

We’re fixing that by adding custom objects to the navigation.

How does it work?

To make sure the navigation is usable on all screen sizes, this change behaves differently depending on how many custom objects are in the portal.

If you have 1 custom object (54% of customers with custom objects): Your object will be displayed in the primary list under the "Contacts" menu.

One custom object

If you have 2–10 custom objects (46% of customers with custom objects): Your objects will be displayed in a tertiary list under the "Contacts" menu.

2 - 10 CO

If you have 11+ custom objects (5 portals today, or ~.2% of customers with custom objects): Your first ten objects will be displayed in the tertiary list, ordered alphabetically by object plural name. (Note: There is a more scalable solution ready in the re-designed future nav.)

11+ CO

For setting a default homepage: Navigate to Settings > Your Settings > General, and find the "default homepage" option. Choose a custom object from the list, and you're off to the races!!

Who gets it?

As a feature related to custom objects, an Enterprise feature, only Enterprise customers will see this change.
